Roberto J. J. Williams has a Bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences, with orientation in Chemical Technology (National University of La Plata, 1969 and 1972). Full professor with full dedication in the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering (National University of Mar del Plata), since 1976.
Since 1995, he is a CONICET senior researcher with functions at the Research Institute for Materials Science and Technology (INTEMA, UN Mar del Plata-CONICET), of which he was the organizer and first director.
His areas of interest are thermoset polymers, phase separation induced by polymerization and micro and nanostructured polymer blends and compounds.
He published some 220 articles in specialized magazines and chapters of books and encyclopedias. He is co-author of two books: Diffusion in Gases and Porous Media (Plenum, 1980) and Thermosetting Polymers (Dekker, 2002), and co-Editor of the book Epoxy Polymers; New Materials and Innovations (Wiley VCH, 2010).
He is a full member of the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences and corresponding to the Engineering. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the FOMEC (Ministry of Culture and Education) and the Board of CONICET.
He has been a Visiting Professor at Universities in France and China. He received several awards such as the Platinum Konex Award (1993), Bernardo Houssay Award (2003) and the Bunge y Born Prize (2007).
